Neder-Betuwe, Gelderland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 3769415
Provided by: Groots Genieten
From here you cycle to the Lingemeer, a lake on the north side of the Betuwe river Linge that was created by sand extraction. The former holiday homes were given a residential purpose in 2010. The area will be developed into the Lingedael estate until 2028. Sand extraction is linked to nature development, recreation, water storage and housing. Two more large lakes with beaches and jetties will be added, and a small village of about 100 homes will be built between them. Then you cross over to the Nederrijn and the picturesque Lienden. In the middle of the fields you will see the Marsch, a polder mill from 1885. You cycle back over the Rijnbandijk, which is quite a distance from the river here: a centuries-old dike, with monumental buildings.
