Tour Landgoed De Paltz and Soesterberg Air Base

Your route starts at Restaurant Eethuis De Stoeterij. During this walk you will discover the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The area was created 150,000 years ago when ice and water pushed up masses of earth and stones to form a ridge in the middle of the Netherlands. The history here can be felt everywhere. For example, pay a visit to the former air base Soesterberg. Where the tires of fighter jets once smoked, a special nature reserve has now been created. In the beautifully renovated National Military Museum you will find interesting exhibitions with many historical and new weapon systems. Then you will take a journey even further back in time, to Landgoed De Paltz. The dominant country house in French eclectic style is striking. The estate is named after the German workers who lived here at the end of the eighteenth century.
