Description
From Boerderij de Spijken - B&B - Mini Camping - Kaarsenmakerij you cycle through the village of Ammerzoden. Nearby is Ammersoyen Castle, one of the best preserved authentic medieval castles in the Netherlands. With its striking corner towers and wide moat it is truly a picture to see. A little further on you cross the Maas at Hedel. Then you cycle via Bokhoven and Heesbeen, among others. In Haarsteeg and Elshout you see some beautiful old farms. Then you cycle to the fortified town of Heusden, a nice place to soak up the atmosphere. Here you can still see the star-shaped pattern of the fortifications. Nearby you take the ferry back to the northern bank of the Maas, to cycle back in the direction of Ammerzoden.
