Just behind Roermond, on the German border, lies National Park De Meinweg. Here you will find a unique piece of nature by Dutch standards. You will also cycle through several church villages in Central Limburg and take a trip to several German villages that are located in a rural area. In 1945, the Germans blew up the church towers in Vlodrop and Herkenbosch, because they could serve as a point of orientation. Both churches were badly damaged and were rebuilt, whereby the thirteenth-century choir of the St. Sebastianus Church in Herkenbosch was spared. Take a break at Tuincentrum Schmitz! National Park De Meinweg is known for its unique terraced landscape, which was created over tens of thousands of years by the erosion of the Meuse and three fault lines in the earth's crust. You cycle through dense forests, stream valleys and heathland.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
