Cycling through Kempen estates

You first cycle through the woods of the Gorp & Roovert Estate. One moment the shadows of oaks and beeches dominate, a little further you drive between fragrant conifers. Every now and then you see fens and you have beautiful views over grasslands. You feel like you are alone in the world in this tranquil border area. In the old hamlet of Gorp you will see some farms and a beautiful monumental hunting lodge from 1870. Then you drive through Hilvarenbeek with its picturesque old village center. Via Esbeek you drive through the woods to Belgium. It is quiet cycling in the fields around Poppel. Back in the Netherlands you drive between Alphen and Riel on the Bels Lijntje, a former railway route. Via Landgoed Nieuwkerk you drive back to the starting point: Natuurpoort De Roovertsche Leij.
