Description

A day of cycling through the Ronde Venen means enjoying a water-rich and wide polder landscape. You pass two forts from the New Dutch Waterline: Fort bij Uithoorn from 1880 and Fort Waver-Amstel, which was completed in 1911. Further on you drive along the meandering river Wavre. You will also pass the Vinkeveense Plassen. From the cycle path you have a beautiful view over the water and on the former fields where the peat was once laid to dry. You pass through Woerdense Verlaat, after which you cycle along the Groene Jonker nature reserve. The last kilometers are perhaps the most beautiful: you cycle along the banks of the Kromme Mijdrecht. Rippling water, boats and farms, tight meadows: it doesn't get any more Dutch! At Spoorhuis Uithoorn you can enjoy a delicious meal.
