A watery tour through the Ronde Venen

A day of cycling through the Ronde Venen means enjoying a watery and expansive polder landscape. You pass two forts from the New Dutch Waterline: the Fort at Uithoorn from 1880 and Fort Waver-Amstel that was completed in 1911. Further on you cycle along the meandering river Waver. You also pass the Vinkeveense Plassen. From the cycle path you have a beautiful view over the water and the former legakkers where the peat was once laid out to dry. You pass Woerdense Verlaat, after which you cycle along the nature reserve De Groene Jonker. The last kilometres are perhaps the most beautiful: you cycle along the banks of the Kromme Mijdrecht. Rippling water, boats and farms, neat meadows: it doesn't get more Dutch than this! At Spoorhuis Uithoorn you can enjoy a delicious meal.
