Description

The Kromme Mijdrecht is a meandering river that flows through the Groene Hart and forms part of the border between Utrecht and South Holland. Cycling along the rippling water you have beautiful views, because the surrounding polder has slowly subsided due to subsidence. You not only drive along, but also through the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. The Meijepad, a cycle path with a wooden bridge in the middle to allow ships to pass, runs straight through the Zuideinderplas. The hamlet of Woerdense Verlaat was built near the lock in the Grecht, which was built in 1448. De Hoef is a cozy town near the monumental Pondskoekersluis, from the second half of the nineteenth century. You can admire the Anthony of Padua, a beautiful church from 1921. Stop at Restaurant De Oude School!
