Cycling route: 370658
Provided by: Groots Genieten
The Kromme Mijdrecht is a meandering river that flows through the Groene Hart and forms part of the border between Utrecht and South Holland. Cycling along the rippling water you have beautiful views, because the surrounding polder has slowly subsided due to subsidence. You not only cycle along, but also through the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. The Meijepad runs right through the Zuideinderplas, a cycle path with a wooden bridge in the middle to let ships through. The hamlet of Woerdense Verlaat was built near the lock in the Grecht that was built in 1448. De Hoef is a pleasant village near the monumental Pondskoekersluis, from the second half of the nineteenth century. You can admire the Antonius van Padua, a beautiful church from 1921.
