Enjoy the silence in Brabant Peel

Your cycling route starts at Hotel Eetcafé In D\\\'ouwe Peel in Helenaveen. From here you drive along the edge of the Groote Peel. You also drive a bit through the Galgenberg and the Dennendijkse Bossen, two relatively young nature reserves with Scots pine and Norway spruce. You also pass through characteristic villages such as Liessel, Ommel and Neerkant. In this region you will see plenty of old farms and other beautiful buildings. This way you will pass the Volksvriend, a flour mill from 1903. The Johanna-Elisabeth, a flour mill from 1844, is one of the few bottle-shaped mills in the Netherlands. Cycling along the Voorste Heusden you pass the Kasteellaan: an inconspicuous path where after a while you will find the ruins of the 600-year-old castle of Asten behind the dense vegetation.
