Tour of Oisterwijk, Koningshoeven and Kapel Heilige Eik

Your route starts at Brasserie Het Blijvertje. This route takes you through Oisterwijk and the surrounding area. Oisterwijk received city rights as early as the thirteenth century and the rich history of this small town can still be seen in the monumental buildings. Cycling over De Lind, the old market place that has the status of a protected cityscape, you will see some beautiful mansions and an ancient lime tree. Then you drive to Koningshoeven Abbey, a Trappist monastery dating from 1881. In the middle of the forest you will find the Chapel of the Holy Oak, a particularly atmospheric spot. In 1406, two shepherds are said to have found a statue of Mary here in the brook De Beerze and placed it in an oak. Via another beautiful authentic town, Spoordonk, you cycle back to your starting point.
