A round of fens at Moergestel

Your route starts at Brasserie Het Blijvertje, in the outskirts of Moergestel. You walk through the Brabant countryside, but also through the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen nature reserve. Here you can fully enjoy the beautiful waters - the fens were not blown out by polar winds, but carved out by the swirling water of an old meltwater river, or created by wind erosion. Grab a bench and enjoy the silence. This was once a vast moorland. At the end of the nineteenth century, Scots pines were planted for mining and shipbuilding, now you can also see native deciduous trees. At junction 2 you will pass Zandstraat 5, an authentic small farm from the early nineteenth century. The building is in the top 100 of national monuments!
