Tour of the fens near Moergestel

You walk through the Brabant countryside, but also through the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen nature reserve. Here you can fully enjoy the beautiful waters - the fens are not extinct by polar winds, but carved out by the swirling water of an old meltwater river, or created by wind erosion. Grab a bench and enjoy the silence. This was once a vast heathland area. At the end of the nineteenth century, Scots pines were planted for mining and shipbuilding, but now you can also see native deciduous trees. At junction 2 you pass Zandstraat 5, an authentic small farm from the early nineteenth century. The building is in the top 100 of national monuments!
