Vaals, Limburg, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 3669755

To spend a nice day walking in the southern border region, I park my car at the Harles in Vijlen, near the Panting deer. This is where I start the route, but first have a nice cup of coffee with Limburgse vlaai on the terrace of the Hijgend Hert.
From the Hijgend Hert the route goes through the Vijlenerbos to the Drielandenpunt in Vaals. This part is mostly passable. You mainly walk in the woods. The Vijlenerbos is also a beautiful piece of forest to walk in. There are plenty of benches along the way to rest.
Once you have arrived at the Drielandenpunt you could possibly drink or eat something. On holidays and holidays it is busy here. Too busy for my liking. That's why I quickly leave the Drielandenpunt to walk to Moresnet Chapelle. This town is located in Belgium. On the way to Moresnet Chapelle you walk in the Pruesbos where you will encounter many border posts of the old state of Moresnet. Once you have arrived in Moresnet Chapelle you can also eat or drink something here.
From Moresnet Chapelle the route goes back to the Panting Hert in Vijlen. First through the fields and streams to end up in the Vijlnerbos again later. I wanted to change the route a bit, but I was caught in a heavy downpour. Because I was completely soaked, I decided to walk back the same path (something I normally wouldn't do).
