Today's route takes you along both banks of the IJssel and you will also visit the Hanseatic city of Doesburg. Doesburg was granted city rights in 1237, making it one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. Take a break here at Stadshotel Doesburg & Restaurant De Kade! The Rhederoord estate was founded in the 17th century when Willem Everwijn bought several farms and pastures between Rheden and De Steeg. The history of Kasteel Middachten even goes back to the year 1190. The estate 'Hof te Dieren' came into the possession of the monastery knights of the Teutonic Order in 1218. Stadtholder Willem II bought it in 1647. Along the way, stop off at Restaurant Houtplaats for a bite to eat or a drink, beautifully situated at the foot of the Posbank. A route to enjoy!
