Round trip from Wanssum

From Wanssum in Limburg you can take a tour along both sides of the Maas. First you drive along the floodplains to Blitterswijck. On the edge of this village you pass the Protestant Church from 1828. You cross the river on a ferry, after which you soon drive into the coniferous forests of the Wellse Heide. This nature reserve is located on an old river dune and is part of the Maasduinen National Park. Just before Aijen you pass a number of monumental farms, further on you cycle through the picturesque Oud Bergen. You can cross the Maas again with a ferry. Then you drive to Maashees through the unique Maasheggen landscape with its centuries-old oaks and hawthorns. The route ends at Wanssum Marina / Café van Wieren.
