Enjoying along the Hollandse IJssel

Your route immediately takes you past the beautiful Zuidplas. Moordrecht is the first town you cycle through. You will see many monumental buildings here, such as the Protestant Church from 1657. Then you cycle a bit along the GroenBlauwe zone, a vast nature reserve. You cross the Hollandse IJssel, from the dike you look out over the rippling water and the vast polders. Ideal for a breath of fresh air and relaxation. In between you will pass through the picturesque Gouderak. In Ouderkerk aan den IJssel you can also admire some beautiful buildings in the Dorpsstraat and on the IJsseldijk. With a bicycle ferry you cross the river and cycle through Hitland. In this nature reserve you will find a mix of forest, bird-rich peat meadows, marshes and ditches.
