Walking in the countryside around Panningen

You'll start this walk at the charming Markt square in Panningen. Just before you enter Schoolstraat, look to your left. Here stands the monumental Church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, built in the characteristic 1930s style. A little later, you'll walk through a diverse landscape of farmland and flower-filled meadows. This route offers plenty of photo opportunities and places to enjoy the tranquility. Just below the village of Koningslust, you'll walk through Vlakbroek, a former marsh that once had an open connection to the Meuse River. Now it's a unique nature reserve with many rare plants and animals. For example, it's home to some 31 butterfly species. Keep your eyes peeled and stop regularly; there's a good chance you'll encounter such a fluttering beauty as you stroll! The walk ends with coffee and lunch at Cafe Tinus.
