Cycling around Maarssen

After a cup of coffee at Carlton President Hotel you get on your bike. In the vicinity of Maarssen you can enjoy nature along the meandering Vecht and the vast Loosdrechtse Plassen. You will be amazed at the many monumental buildings in picturesque towns such as Maarssen. At the Loosdrechtse Plassen you drive through a picturesque landscape where different bodies of water are separated by dikes and islands. You have beautiful views here, so step off to enjoy the surroundings. In Oud-Loosdrecht you can still see many monumental farms and houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries on the dike. A little later you drive past Fort Spion, the fortification from 1847 that was part of the New Dutch Waterline.
