Cycling around Maarssen

After a cup of coffee at Carlton President Hotel, you get on your bike. In the area around Maarssen, you can enjoy nature along the meandering Vecht and the vast Loosdrechtse Plassen. You will be amazed by the many monumental buildings in picturesque towns such as Maarssen. At the Loosdrechtse Plassen, you cycle through a picturesque landscape where various waters are separated by dikes and islands. You have beautiful views here, so get off your bike to enjoy the surroundings. In Oud-Loosdrecht, you can still see many monumental farms and houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries on the dike. A little later, you cycle past Fort Spion, the fortification from 1847 that was part of the New Dutch Waterline.
