Take it easy today! A relaxing trip on the Vennbahn to Aachen. Make a stop along the way in one of the picturesque Eifel towns of Monschau or Kornelimünster. The last thirty kilometers to Aachen are all downhill.
Monschau
In Monschau, the half-timbered houses decorated with flower boxes stand proudly next to each other on the waterfront of the River Roer. The favorable location on this waterway brought Monschau to great prosperity in the 17th and 18th centuries when, at the time of the large textile industry, transport mainly took place by water. The most beautiful remaining houses in the city belonged to textile manufacturers and cloth weavers, such as the Red House from 1756.
