Description

The nice and remarkable thing about this day is that almost the entire route is 'off limits' to motorized traffic. Through the beautiful nature of the High Fens, the oldest nature reserve in Wallonia, you gradually ascend to a height of 660 meters.

Vennbahn
Today a wonderfully quiet cycle route through the raised moor in the Ardennes is on the program. You cycle from the German Kalterherberg on the Vennbahn cycle path, one of the longest (total 125 kilometers) and most beautiful railway lines in Europe converted into a cycle path. Along the way you will pass the abandoned railway yard of Sourbrodt.

Sankt Vith
Via Waimes and the Montenauer ham smokehouse, the route continues to the pleasant town of Sankt Vith, located on the border of the Ardennes and the Eifel.
As the name suggests, German is also spoken in Sankt Vith. It is the capital of the German-speaking part of Belgium.

An interesting sight here is the Büchelturm, a restored tower of the medieval city walls. The tower survived the Battle of the Bulge during World War II, while the rest of Sankt Vith was largely destroyed.
