Description
This route was created with the help of Dennis Appels (animal care Avifauna).
The nice thing about this route is that it winds along with the river through a typical Dutch landscape. The view is different at every turn. There are also two nice cafes on the route to take a rest and have something to eat or drink. Along the Hollandse Kade, at the Nieuwkoopse Plassen, there are several birdwatching points; huts, benches and boards with descriptions. The ultimate bird you can spot here is the bittern, but you will also find grebes, tufted ducks, gadwalls and other waterfowl. This is also the area of the otter.
