The picturesque De Graafschap National Landscape is located around Barchem. Walk through this beautiful small-scale landscape and be enchanted by fairytale vistas, green meadows and dense forests.
Varied landscape
The starting point of this hike is located a little outside Barchem at the foot of the Kale Berg. This hill is part of a moraine near Lochem, of which the Lochemerberg is also part. Don't worry, you don't have to hike up this hill. The route takes you through the forests north of Barchem. The forests in this landscape alternate with small heathlands with a fen here and there. You also walk through areas with fields, farms, meadows and hedgerows. All green splendor.

Fascinating Barchem
Barchem is a small village at the foot of the Lochemse mountain. The nature around Barchem in particular is a real attraction, but the village itself is also worth a visit. You can visit the Barch Church or find a nice restaurant to take a break. The hamlet of Zwiep also belongs to Barchem. According to the stories, the mythical Witte Wieven wander around here. Whether you want to believe those stories is up to you.
