City walk Enschede

In Enschede you will take a beautiful city walk. First you walk to the Volkspark, which is laid out in the English style. This was built in 1872 on the former Goolkate estate and is considered the oldest public park in the Netherlands. Further on you walk a bit through Pathmos, a district that was built between 1914 and 1928 for textile workers. The name comes from the textile baron who had the district built: he called his estate'my Pathmos\\\'. The route also takes you through the old heart of Enschede. Here you will see many beautiful monumental buildings, such as the Jacobuskerk from 1933, which was built in the Byzantine style. At the pleasant Oude Markt you will see, among other things, the Grote Kerk. The oldest part of this building dates from 1200. The route ends at IntercityHotel Enschede.
