Walking through Enschede parks and through Roombeek

This route takes you to a number of parks of former textile manufacturers. You pass through the GJ van Heek Park from 1918. You walk through a foliage corridor to the adjacent Lochemsbleek Park, after which you pass a giant sequoia in the Abraham Ledeboer Park. Further on you walk through Roombeek. A flourishing textile industry emerged here from the end of the nineteenth century. Partly because of this, Enschede could even call itself the second largest textile city in the world, after Manchester. You pass De Museumfabriek, just before the A13 junction you pass the modest monument for the fireworks disaster that took place here in 2000. Then you walk a bit along Museumlaan with its exclusive city villas designed by international architects. Finally, you will pass the Rijksmuseum Twenthe. The route ends at IntercityHotel Enschede.
