Description
This route takes you through the Sallandse Land around Raalte. You cycle to Heeten on car-free roads. You drive past vast meadows, but also past fields and small forest plots. Further on you cycle along one of the branches of the Overijssels Canal. This part runs from Lemelerveld to Deventer and was opened in 1858. In 1988 the canal was closed to shipping. Raalte is a nice town. Here you will see, among other things, the Basilica of the Holy Cross, a neo-Gothic church from 1892. Then you drive along the rippling water of the Overijssels Canal. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the waving reed banks. You cycle to Haarle via the village of Luttenberg. Time for a cozy terrace at Eetcafe De Droadnagel.
