Fortress town of Coevorden
Coevorden used to occupy an important place in the Netherlands. It was one of the most important fortified cities. This was mainly due to the city's favorable location on the route from Groningen to Munster. Travelers therefore had to pass through this castle town and that made the city interesting for merchants and generals. The rest of the population followed automatically. Coevorden Castle from the 11th century still reminds us of Coevorden's heyday.
