Description
Boekel is located in the Peel area and on the Peel edge fracture. The border between old and new land is still visible in the landscape.
East of the breach are the peel reclamations with their straight roads and modern farms. West of the breach is the valley of the Aa.
At the beginning of the 20th century, people started to reclaim the Peel. This means that the land was prepared for agricultural use. For example through excavation or water management. This is how the wet Peel changed into flat fields and meadows. The results of this extraction are visible in Boekel, Venhorst and the surrounding area.
Some sights of this route:
- Museum de Kluis: Built in 1742 as a monastery, this building grew into the first institute in the Netherlands for the treatment of psychiatric patients;

- Peel landscape park Voskuilenheuvel: A nature park where the landscape before the reclamation is visible;
