The beautiful Twente-German border area

Lutterzand nature reserve
Get on your bike on the edge of the town of De Lutte and cycle in the direction of the Lutterzand nature reserve. In this nature reserve you cycle through a varied landscape with pine forests, deciduous forests, sand drifts and heathlands. You will also find many juniper bushes in this area and you can spot all kinds of birds. The Dinkel river meanders straight through the nature reserve. In some places beautiful sand strips and calvings have been created by the meandering water. Then you cycle across the German border to the city of Bad Bentheim. From here you cycle back to the point where you got off via the Dutch town of Losser.

Pannenkoekhoes De Stroper is the start and end point of the route. Here you can sit down after a long day on the bike and satisfy your cravings with delicious sweet or savory pancakes. Or would you rather have a cup of coffee with a homemade piece of cake? After all that exercise, you really deserve a treat.

Bad Bentheim
Bad Bentheim is a German city located near the border with Twente. This city is mainly known for Bentheim Castle, a medieval sandstone castle. This type of sandstone is called Bentheimer sandstone. It is also fun to explore the historic center of the city and the many cozy terraces and restaurants. A special attraction in Bad Bentheim are Medieval banquets offered by various restaurants.
