In the'backyard\\\' of Lisse, De Bollenstreek, you can celebrate spring in style. Then the closed flower buds reveal themselves into a colorful palette of blooming crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and tulips. The region has become world famous for it.
In the Bulb Region, flower bulbs are grown on the excavated sandy soil behind the dunes: the ghost soil. The bulb fields with their straight ditches and high dune roads alternate with green avenues and old estates on this route. The plots form a beautiful patchwork in the spring and attract more than a million visitors every year. It is not without reason that it is the most photographed landscape in the Netherlands. On this 33 kilometer route you can enjoy the splendor of the flowers. Not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the nose.
In addition to the many bulb fields, the varied landscape, the canals and ditches, the monuments and the charming villages make the route definitely worthwhile. Also in summer and autumn, because that is when the summer flowering plants and perennials bloom on the land.
