Description
You really get a holiday feeling on the banks of the Veluwemeer. Just like on the Veluwe where you drive through the woods and over the Elspeetse Heide. There is no shortage of natural beauty on this route.
Nunspeet
You start the route at Landgoedhotel Villa Vennendal. You will soon arrive at junction 40 past the Veluwe transferium. Here is a thirty meter high watchtower for an unparalleled panorama over the forests! Nunspeet is a village where many painters settled at the end of the nineteenth century to record farm life. Just past junction 1, you can still see the foundations of the Sint-Ludgeruskerk van Doornspijk to the left of the Oude Zeeweg.
Essenburgh
Get a breath of fresh air before you drive through the Gelderse Vallei with its meadows and old farms. You pass the fairytale castle De Essenburgh, which dates back to 1652. Then you drive through the vast forests of the Veluwe. What a silence!
