Discover the Veluwemeer from both sides

On the shores of Lake Veluwe, you really get a holiday feeling. Just like on the Veluwe, where you drive through the forests and across the Elspeetse Heide. There is no shortage of natural beauty on this route.

Nunspeet
You start the route at Landgoedhotel Villa Vennendal. Soon, at junction 40, you pass the Veluwe Transferium. Here stands a thirty-meter-high observation tower offering an unparalleled panorama over the forests! Nunspeet is a small village where many painters settled at the end of the nineteenth century to capture rural life. Just past junction 1, to the left of the Oude Zeeweg, you can still see the foundations of the Sint-Ludgerus Church of Doornspijk.

Essenburgh
Take a breath of fresh air before driving through the Gelderse Vallei with its meadows and old farmhouses. You pass the fairytale-like De Essenburgh Castle, which dates back to 1652. Next, you drive through the vast forests of the Veluwe. What silence!
