The Giro d'Italia 2016 starts on May 6 with an exciting 10 kilometer time trial through Apeldoorn. Have you always wanted to ride a real time trial, but don't feel like traveling to another country for that? Then grab your chance and cycle over the first part of the Tour of Italy route.
Velodrome Omnisport
The starting stage for the time trial will be built in the Velodrome Omnisport, a well-known Dutch cycling track. As recreational cyclists you can simply start your cycling route near the Velodrome Omnisport. From here you will reach the Zutphenstraat via two left turns, a straight street of 1.7 kilometers. Do you want to bring out the cyclist in you? Then put a lot of speed behind it on this street.
Through the center of Apeldoorn
The route takes you further along the water of Kanaal Noord. At the Edisonlaan you cross the water to explore the other side of the canal. During the official time trial of the Giro, the only intermediate measurement point after 4.8 kilometers is located a little further in the Generaal aan Heutszlaan. You will be taken to the end of the route via a long wide road with two sharp bends.
The time trials of the Tour of Italy
This stage in Apeldoorn is not the only time trial of the Giro d\\\'Italia. In Italy, the cyclists still have a hill stage of 40.4 kilometers through the vineyards of Chianti waiting for them and in the Dolomites there is a climbing time trial of 10.8 kilometers on the program. Two tough bike rides that are not for everyone. The time trial in Apeldoorn is a lot easier to cycle because of the flat landscape and wide roads. Great for cycling enthusiasts who like to make speed, but also great for novice cyclists who want to taste the atmosphere of a real cycling course.
