Alternate tour of Drenthe

This route shows you two faces from Drenthe. You cycle through some historic green villages, but also through former peat colonies. All in a quiet and open landscape of vast meadows, small forests and heathlands. While cycling, you can regularly admire monumental buildings, such as Saxon farms. In esdorp Dalen you pass the Reformed Church from the fifteenth century. You will also see mill De Bente, a flour mill from 1814. In Sleen you cycle past the flour mill De Hoop from 1914 and the impressive monumental town hall from 1938. In Esdorp Gees you see something typical of Drenthe: a boulder.
