Cycling route Ruinerwold and Boswachterij Staphorst

First you drive to the peat village of Koekange. Just like Kockengen, located in Utrecht, this name is derived from Pais de Cocagne, French for Luilekkerland. Here you will see some monumental farms and the Reformed Church from 1834. You cross the Hoogeveense Vaart, after which you drive along the Reest. This winding river forms the border between Overijssel and Drenthe for several tens of kilometers. Here you look out over hay fields, old hedgerows and ash trees. The old thatched farmhouses fit perfectly into this decor. The Staphorst forestry was constructed between 1930 and 1940 as a job creation project. You cycle past conifers and heathlands. In De Wijk you will see the thatched Wieker Meule from 1829. You end this route with a drink in the tearoom of Het Groene Geschenk.
