Cycle with Rondje Posbank along the main attraction of the Veluwezoom National Park, the almost 90m high Posbank. From this vantage point you have a magnificent view of the beautiful relief, which is exceptional even by Dutch standards. In clear weather you can see more than 20 km away and you can even see the hills of Montferland and the Rijk van Nijmegen. This is often called one of the most beautiful places in the Netherlands. Especially when the heathland turns beautiful purple in August.
Veluwezoom National Park is a nature reserve of over 5,100 hectares of forest, heathland, sand drifts and stately estates. Due to the height differences, there are also some nice climbs in this route. Of course, many animal species also live in the park. Would you like to spot some? Then follow the wheelchair path from the Veluwezoom Visitor Center towards the Herikhuizen observation post. From this observation post you can see an old, partly demolished farm that has been converted into a ruin suitable for numerous plant and animal species. Here you will see wall snapdragons, different types of owls and bats. At harvest time, badgers and Icelandic horses roam the orchard in search of ripe fruit.
It is not only heathland and hilly landscape that you will encounter on this route. You can also get a breath of fresh air along the IJssel river and enjoy the floodplains. You will also come across beautiful sights such as Middachten Estate or hop off for a walk through the historic center of the Hanseatic city of Doesburg.
