Description

The wide variety of landscapes is central to this cycle route through the Ooijpolder and the Millingerwaard. You cycle through the area where the Rhine flows into the country and branches into the Waal and Pannerdensch Canal. More and more bank land is being returned to the river, creating a special new nature. The Millingerwaard is one of the first places where this happened and was followed shortly afterwards by areas such as the Bison Bay and the Oude Waal. Here you will find a paradise of new plants with many animal species. Think of the more than 150,000 geese that come to winter here, fish, insects, beavers and ospreys. There is a good chance that you will see herds of red beggars and Konik horses grazing in the floodplains during this cycle route. Get off at the De Hazelaarshof farm shop!
