Beautiful Pekela and surroundings

The route starts at Winschoten Station. In Oude Pekela you can enjoy a coffee and something tasty at Pekelahof, before you drive to De Onrust, a flour mill from 1850. Along the Pekel A you see some beautiful monuments, such as the Lutheran Church from 1762. In the countryside you drive through some elongated peat colonies such as Numero Dertien and Ommelanderwijk. In Veendam you drive through Tusschendiepen, a district that enjoys a protected cityscape because of its well-preserved architecture from 1915. Here you can visit the Veenkoloniaal Museum. In Meeden you will see monumental, characteristic Oldambtster farms and the centuries-old village church with its free-standing tower.
