Walking along the Grote Nete

This walk takes you through the beautiful nature in the Belgian province of Antwerp. You walk a few kilometers along the river Grote Nete, but also through the woods of Domein Kruiskensberg.

Walking along the meandering Grote Nete you have beautiful views over the water and an old cultural landscape. You see hay meadows, grazing meadows and small forests with oaks and poplars. The path is unpaved, so make sure to wear waterproof footwear. In the middle of the silence you see the Hof van Rameyen. This fairytale moated castle dates back to the fourteenth century. The entire domain was for sale in 2015 for - cough cough - almost 18 million euros.

Kruiskensberg domain
The Kruiskensberg domain forms a beautiful counterpart to the open landscape in the river valley. You walk through the moist heath and cooling forests. It is also remarkably quiet here, although it can be a bit busier at the monumental chapel from 1861. According to legend, a shepherd was cured of fever here in the thirteenth century after drinking from a well. The chapel is a place of pilgrimage, also for young people who are feverishly looking for a love.
