Lavoûte-sur-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
Cycling route: 3438790
Provided by: Martin , Noord-Holland
The Via Fluvia was built on a former railway line, as a link between the Loire and the Rhone. This cycle route takes you to the volcanoes of the Velay and the Ardeche and offers a colorful variety of landscape atmospheres. In the heart of untouched nature you cycle past dormant volcanoes (\\\"Sucs\\\"), breathtaking valleys, rugged rock gorges and the green hills of the Pilat Mountains. The railway past is still clearly present on this Voie Verte, the Velay Express train and its old locomotive (the highlight of your journey) testify to this. Between Lavoute-sur-Loire and Annonay, the cycle route is unbroken and between Riotord and Saint-Marcel-les-Annonay, the route is currently on an unmarked road, pending the completion of the railway line.
By road: 39.45 km Bike path: 59.11 km Temporary route: 27.75 km
The route is marked with the official logo, except between Maisonneuve (2 km from Riotord) and Saint-Marcel-les-Annonay, where you follow a temporary, unmarked route, pending the completion of the railway line and the Tracol tunnel. Don't forget to download the .pdf and .gpx tracks of the route.
