Walking through the woods below Almen

From Hotel Landgoed Ehzerwold you can take a varied walk. First you walk through the park forest that surrounds Havezathe De Ehze. The current villa was built in 1919 in English style. At junction F54 you come to the Spitholter bridge. For centuries this was one of the few places where traders could cross the Berkel. Hanseatic city of Zutphen regularly sabotaged the bridge to block the trade route to competitor Deventer. On an unpaved path you walk along the rippling water and look out over the fields. Further on you walk through the coniferous forests of Landgoed't Waliën. After you have crossed the Almenseweg, you walk through Landgoed Velhorst. You will see deciduous forest, fields and grasslands here. You cross the Berkel again, at the Ehzerwold you can enjoy delicious food.
