This route encloses the sailing area of the former milkman Ruurd Wiersma from Burdaard
Ruurd Wiersma brought the milk from the surrounding farmers to the dairy factory that still existed at that time, Rinsumageest, Bartlehiem and finally Gytsjerk, in the years 1950-1964. Via the Dokkumer Ee, Oudkerkervaart and the (Wiide) Murk he sailed back and forth 2 x daily 7 days a week.
But Ruurd owes his fame to his naive paintings of his former living room and the many paintings.
