Description

Experience a day full of natural and cultural beauty with this route between Woerden and Bodegraven. First, you explore the rich history of Woerden. You pass Woerden Castle, which dates from 1417. The Windmolen is a corn mill from 1755. Then you cycle along the banks of the Oude Rijn, the river that once formed the northern border of the Roman Empire. Fort Wierickerschans is a nice sight from 1673. Bodegraven was once an important link in the cheese trade. Here and there you can still see old warehouses that are reminiscent of that time. At BUCK Bar Kitchen you can enjoy a terrace, before you cycle through the polders to Zwammerdam. Finally, you cycle along the Meije, with a view of the foothills of the Nieuwkoopse Plassen on the left.
