Tour of Stakenbergse Heide from Elspeet

You can walk for miles through nature around Elspeet. You pass on the edge of the village of De Hoop, a beautiful flour mill from 1894. You have beautiful views of the rolling Stakenbergse Heide. Whichever way you look, on the horizon is the green wall of the surrounding forests. The only sound you hear is the wind, a bird or the bleating of the moor sheep that traditionally graze here. The Stakenbergse Heide is a remnant of the immense heath plain that once covered this part of the Veluwe. It is a cultural-historically valuable area, because there are several ancient burial mounds here. You will also find old oak coppice groves here.
