Tour of the colourful splendour of the Bulb Region

Your route starts at De Veense Bukker. In the Bollenstreek it is like cycling through a painting, with all those bright colours. Spring is heralded here with the flowering of crocuses, after which tulips, daffodils and hyacinths give the area a beautiful hue. Gladioli, dahlias and carnations ensure a colourful late summer. In addition to flowers, you will also see many monumental buildings, churches and polder mills while cycling. The Zemelmolen dates from 2003, it replaces an earlier example from the eighteenth century that was lost to arson. You will also pass the Lisserpoelmolen, a national monument from 1676. Just below Voorhout is the Hoop Doet Leven which drains the Elsgeest polder. This mill from 1783 was originally in Rijnsburg, since 1999 it has been at its current location.
