The charm of the Oude IJsselstreek

In the Oude IJsselstreek it is wonderful to cycle kilometers on the bicycle saddle. You drive through an old cultural landscape of forests, agricultural lands and streams. There is also plenty to enjoy along the banks of the Oude IJssel and the German Rhine.

House Landfort
In this area you will still find beautiful old farms and stately country houses. On the Oude IJssel, for example, you will pass Huis Landfort, a castle and estate from the fifteenth century. The monumental house was extensively renovated in the eighteenth century. Just outside Stokkum you drive past Düffels Möll, a flour mill from 1860. In Megchelen you see the beautiful St. Martin's Church, a national monument. It looks old, but was only completed in 1935.

Hanseatic city of Emmerich
In the cozy Emmerich am Rhein you will see the longest suspension bridge (1228 meters) in Germany, which is also called the'Golden Gate vom Niederrhein\\\'. You can get a breath of fresh air at the Rijnkade. About 500 boats pass by here every day. In the old city center you will see the Saint Aldegundis Church and Saint Martini Church.
