Walking through the woods near Bennekom

In the woods near Bennekom it is wonderfully quiet for a walk. The first kilometers you follow the route of the Maarten van Rossumpad. This long-distance route is named after the sixteenth-century warlord who was in the service of the Duke of Guelders. The path takes you under Landgoed Quadenoord. The landscape here consists of a mosaic of coniferous and deciduous forests, stream valleys and meadows. You can also see a country house from 1924 and an old water mill. After a while you bend to the west and enter Boswachterij Oostereng. This nature reserve includes a former nineteenth-century mining estate. You walk here mainly through fragrant coniferous forests and along heaths. Back at Recreatiepark De Bikkenberg you can eat something delicious in Eetcafé De Schaapskooi.
