Walk Zwartsluis, Hasselt and Genemuiden

Along the Zwarte Water you will not only find beautiful floodplains, but also historical places such as Zwartsluis, Hasselt and Genemuiden. Put on your sturdy shoes for a beautiful varied route that first takes you past the harbour of Zwartsluis. You will immediately have beautiful views over the Zwarte Water and the polders. Further on, on your right, you will find the Veldiger Buitenlanden. This nature reserve serves as a floodplain. You will see species-rich grasslands and marshes. The Hanseatic city of Hasselt is best discovered on foot. This way you can take your time to view the many historical buildings, such as the fourteenth-century Sint-Stephanuskerk. Then you walk over an old winding dike to Genemuiden. With a ferry you cross the river and walk to Zwartsluis. Time for a delicious meal at Hotel Restaurant Zwartewater.
