Taste the rich history around Doetinchem

The route starts in Hummelo at Hotel Café Restaurant De Gouden Karper. Laag-Keppel is a truly monumental hotspot. Here you see Keppel Castle from 1350. After this castle was destroyed in 1582, it was rebuilt in the seventeenth century. You will also see a watermill from the nineteenth century with the Follega mill from 1857 right next to it. This mill, built in Follega, was placed here in 1969 to allow the watermill to function. Your route also includes the Aurora, a flour mill from 1870, and the Bernadette, a flour mill from 1861. On the Stationsstraat in Wehl you can take a look at a monumental, rare, intact steam carpentry factory from 1909. This complex was built here so that it sawn timber could be transported via the newly constructed railway.
