Description
Marten Toonder senior was born on November 14, 1879 in Warffum , the son of day laborers. From an early age he had to work for a living: on the land, in the stable, and also as'sheep pup\\\'n\\\' on the island of Rottumeroog. The books Eiland in de verte and The oldest morning that Toonder wrote together with his son Jan Gerhard deal with this period. A walk along the most important places from these books.
