Around Wierden and Nijverdal you can still experience the real authentic Twente tranquility. You cycle along the Wierdense Veld and through the valley of the river De Regge. In the old hamlet of Notter you can see beautiful nineteenth-century Saxon farms.

Cycling in Twente is never boring. Behind every bend or bush a new view awaits you. Time seems to have stood still in the valley of the river Regge. Bring a nice picnic and settle down on a blanket by the rippling water. In the nineteenth and twentieth century, so-called zomps were still regularly sailed on the Regge. Skippers from Enter thus traded their goods deep into Germany.

Wierden Field
The Wierdense Veld is a nature reserve with wide heaths and high moors. It can still be old-fashioned quiet here. Especially when you see the flock of sheep passing by, you soon have the feeling that you have made a big leap back in time. At Rijssen you drive past Het Horst, a strikingly characteristic oil and peeling mill from 1725. After your tour you can enjoy a delicious meal at Restaurant Landgoed Het Rheins - the restaurant was voted the Nicest Restaurant in the Netherlands in 2014.

Do you have some time and energy left? Then drive up and down to Enter, the village where clog makers were active for centuries. As a reminder of that period, there is a unique monument on the Brink: the largest clog in the world, made from a single piece of wood. This clog is 403 cm long, 171 cm wide and 169 cm high.
