Through meadows and forests near Borkel

It is wonderfully peaceful to walk in the woods and meadows near Borkel. This route takes you through part of the Dommeldal, the Leenderbos and the village of Schaft.

Dommeldal
The Dommel is a small river that originates near Peer in Belgium. Near Borkel he leisurely winds through meadows and forests. In the Dommeldal you walk between meadows and farmlands, in some places you see groups of orchids. Some of the plots are still separated by old hedgerows. Along the water you see willows, poplars and birches. Walking along the Dommel provides beautiful tranquil views. Take the time to enjoy it.

Kempen long facade farm
In the villages of Borkel and Schaft you will see some beautiful old buildings. At the intersection of Dorpsstraat and Schafterdijk in Schaft you will see a monumental Kempen long-gable farmhouse from 1745 at number 40. Past Schaft you walk a bit into the Leenderbos. Here you walk among the Scots pines and Douglas firs that were planted for the production of mining wood. The further you walk into the forest, the more you are surrounded by silence.
