A day at the seaside

On the beach, your walking pace may be a bit slower, but that gives you every opportunity to enjoy the surf and the view over the sea. And when the weather is nice, take a dip. Don't forget to look the other way, because on the boulevard, as is fitting in a seaside resort, there are still beautiful houses from the beginning of the twentieth century.

North Holland Dune Reserve
Below Egmond aan Zee you enter the North Holland Dune Reserve. This nature reserve consists of an alternation of dune tops, woods and an unprecedented silence. Prince Henry the Navigator Museum
The route takes you past an impressive white building on the Voorstraat. This is the former home for retired sailors and their partners. Nowadays, this monumental building houses senior citizens' homes, but also the maritime museum named after Prince Hendrik de Zeevaarder, brother of King Willem III. In 1874, the prince laid the symbolic foundation stone of the house. Showpieces of the museum are the ship models, maritime paintings, antiques and other curiosities. The stained glass window in the hall of the care centre is also a real eye-catcher: it shows the life of the sailor from the cradle to the grave.
