Cycling through the green Twente

If you want a day away from all the hustle and bustle, you can drive this route through Twente and Germany. Just before the border you pass the Mander Circles, the largest landscape art project in the Netherlands. In the state of Lower Saxony you will still find the old bocage landscape of the past. Between Itterbeck and Uelsen you drive through remarkably quiet forests. On your route you will pass some old half-timbered houses and Saxon farms. You will also see the seventeenth-century manor House in Breckelenkamp. There are many monumental buildings in the heart of Ootmarsum, you will experience a nice historic atmosphere here. The Springendal is a beautiful nature reserve with seepage ponds, waterfalls, narrow streams, meadows, heathland and forest. The start and end point of your route is Restaurant Watermolen Bels. At this water mill from 1725 you can enjoy the conviviality and a tasty snack.
