Cycling through green Twente

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle for a day, you can drive this route through Twente and Germany. Just before the border you pass the Mandercirkels, the largest landscape art project in the Netherlands. In the state of Lower Saxony you can still find the old coulisse landscape of the past. Between Itterbeck and Uelsen you drive through remarkably quiet forests. On your route you will pass several old half-timbered houses and Saxon farms. You will also see the seventeenth-century manor Huis te Breckelenkamp. In the heart of Ootmarsum there are many monumental buildings, you can taste a nice historical atmosphere here. The Springendal is a beautiful nature reserve with spring ponds, waterfalls, narrow streams, meadows, heathland and forest. The start and end point of your route is Restaurant Watermolen Bels. At this watermill from 1725 you can enjoy the cosiness and a tasty snack.
